Anabel Mackie

Anabel founded Fintax Consulting Group in 1983 after identifying the need for an independent, solutions-driven financial advice. Since then Fintax has grown considerably with clients located globally and an enviable network of specialists to call upon.

In anticipation of the lifting of exchange control, and in the belief that South Africans would prefer local service to invest on the same terms as their international counterparts, she was one of the pioneers of the ‘asset swap’ product in South Africa and one of the creators of ‘white-label’ funds. Other firsts developed in her quest for financial solutions is offshore private equity accessible through a structure which allows for lower investment minimums than the typical $5mn.

Anabel was the inspiration and genesis for the Aurum Isis Fund and has been a director of the fund since its inception in 1998. Aurum Isis Fund is a global multi-strategy fund with a mandate to generate returns uncorrelated to traditional asset classes. The Fund, listed in Bermuda, is the flagship fund of the Aurum Group.

In addition to being a lover of the bush and a keen fly fisherwoman, she plays golf. Her membership of two committees of the Bryanston Country Club enables her to contribute to the upliftment of the caddies and staff.
